This is one end of the Green Route, a scheme which so flawed that Tories in Watford called on Tory run County Hall to scrap it.

Scrap it? No Liberal Democrat Watford Borough Council officially want to extend the Green Route right across Watford
Let's see what other things Liberal Democrat controlled Watford Borough Council has done to help to relieve congestion...

Taxi protest

These are T&G Taxi Branch workers, protesting in front of Watford Junction. When asked if there was any animosity between them and the employees who work for the minicab firm whose licence is at the centre of their dispute, they said "These are our friends, our family, our cousins, we see them all the time. When we stand here we don't talk. Watford Council could have easily sorted this out at the start."

If I were with a child at this point, I might say "let's see how many transport problems we can see in this one photograph?" To help Liberal Democrats at Watford Borough Council, the answers are:
  1. Hackney carriage drivers in dispute with a minicab firm
  2. Inadequate provision of cycle storage facilities
  3. A mini cab firm which is being prosecuted by the same authority which issued its licence, Watford Council
  4. Transport arrangements which were "branded a disgrace" because they failed to take into account the needs of disabled passengers
  5. A drop off point for vehicle passengers which has been coned off. Disabled passengers now have no convienient place to be dropped off or picked up from, they have to use the ordinary car waiting spaces some fifty to seventy-five yards away, if they can find a space.
  6. A traffic light which has to be covered because when this set of lights is turned on, Watford is gridlocked
  7. Inside Watford Junction there is severe disruption to train services
  8. Traffic at the crossing is now moving so freely that it could present a safety issue
But wait, its not all bad news. Water-born transport rescue service RNLI were seen assessing the damage at Watford Junction on Friday 28th ay 2004. Thank you RNLI for taking an interest in Watford's transport problems.
